Everything you need for the ultimate car cleaning kit

How to assemble your failsafe car cleaning kit…

Keeping your car as clean and tidy as possible is a constant, ongoing task for most of us. Just by the very nature of driving and being out and about on roads, cars will become dirty and scuffed, from top to bottom. Even the most careful drivers won’t be immune to this – wheels, screens and windows, paintwork, upholstery, mirrors….even just one quick drive to the shops could cause some dirt to any of these areas (or even to all of them!)

So, what exactly do you need in order to be ready for anything when it comes to cleaning your car? A well stocked car cleaning kit! Keeping a car cleaning kit on standby means you’ll always have every product you need to keep your car looking its best, inside and out. But what exactly do you need to keep in your car cleaning kit? You’ll need to make sure that you’re covered for every eventuality, and for any area of your car. Whether you’re using a pressure washer or hand washing a car you’ll always need some extra help from products to do the job thoroughly. Obviously, a car cleaning kit could contain everything including the kitchen sink! Here are the products we think everyone should have in their car cleaning kit, to cover every base…

  • Car Shampoo

Everyone should have an excellent car shampoo in their kit, for that weekly (or monthly!) car wash. The perfect car shampoo will thoroughly remove all dirt and grime from your car’s surface, and leave it sparkling without damaging the paintwork. There is a brilliant article over on our Chipex blog that details what you need to look out for when you’re choosing a car shampoo – if you need some more guidance, check it out!

  • Screenwash

Making sure your car screens and windows are free from dirt and markings is about more than wanting your car to look great – it’s also a safety precaution. You shouldn’t risk anything distracting your vision while driving, and a screenwash will make sure the glass is always crystal clear.

  • Wheel Cleaner

Filthy wheels are a giveaway sign of a car that hasn’t been looked after. If you have alloy wheels you’ll probably be constantly aware of keeping them clean and tidy, but even if you have standard wheels, keeping them bright and shiny as opposed to muddy and dull will have a hugely positive impact on the overall look of your car.

  • A Tough Stain Remover

There are some stains that your everyday car shampoo won’t make a dent on; we’re talking about tree sap, dead bugs, tar and other seriously tough, dried on stains. These are hard to shake without a targeted treatment, something specially formulated to break these substances down and remove them, without leaving a noticeable mark behind on your car’s paintwork.

  • Upholstery Cleaner (for seats and carpets)

  • lexus launch vehicle interior front

Having a clean car exterior is one thing, but as the interior is actually where you’ll be spending your time, you need to make sure it’s pleasant for yourself and your passengers. We would recommend always making sure you have some kind of fabric spray that you can use to quickly freshen up the smell of your car upholstery, and also keeping some upholstery shampoo in your kit for the occasional more thorough wash Top tip – vacuuming your car’s seats and carpets also goes a long way to making them look more presentable!

  • A Car Wax or Polish to keep paintwork gleaming

Once you have made sure your car’s paintwork is totally chip and scratch free, make sure it’s always worthy of being shown off! A wax or polish solution that can be used to brighten up dull paintwork and leave it with an impressive shine is the best way to keep on top of this.

  • Mirror and Window Cleaner (glass cleaner)

It’s no good having gleaming paintwork when your car’s windows and mirrors are then streaked and smeared with grime. An excellent glass cleaner can be used for both your windows and your mirrors, and will leave them completely clear and

We also think it’s a brilliant idea to keep your Chipex touch up kit fully supplied and ready to go for those moments when cleaning won’t do, and there’s paintwork damage that needs to be properly covered.
